A recorded phone call between Cat and Dick
I loved Ash. I really did. But I was not part of her crowd. She kept me around because her wholesome image was part of the challenge for the guys who flirted with her. And she loved that. I was furiously jealous. I could have left her, but I think she secretly wanted that so she could play the victim. Did this make me angry? Of course. She was using me. After everything I did for her. She didn’t care about me at all.
But my god I could never have killed her. I could live with a broken heart. But not without Ash.
Money isn’t everything. Some people place friendship and loyalty more highly. Ash was not one of those people. Each of us could benefit from her lifestyle, and each of us could have killed her. But the only person she cares about was herself. Innes made her rich, Faye made her look even more popular, Dick gave her that ‘humble’ look, and I gave her everything! But she didn’t care that I taught her about online profiles. About make up, about becoming who she wanted to be. Apparently I was past it. And sorry honey but I made you. So I decided I would destroy you.
I knew from our phone call that Dick would be working at the bar and wouldn’t notice a good friend making a special cocktail. I already knew about her scheme to take our money. I knew all her passwords and saw that unreleased video. So I took my revenge and it worked a treat. I killed Ash Tag. Hashtag murderer.
Ash was threatened by me. She thought she had made me what I was, but I already had better contacts than her, I was on my way to make more than her in half the time, and frankly, I’m younger and better looking. So why would I kill her? She tried to sabotage me, sure but I’m not as naive as she was. I was ready for anything she could throw at me. I have a bit of a problem with gambling, sure. But I’m still earning more than I spend.
Oh and Ash stole some money from us all? Big deal, I make that every time I post a new video online. I didn’t kill her. I quite enjoyed the competition
Ash was my big ticket. I never really earned my fortune, and when Dad cut me off, I saw a new person who could make me money. She was easy to manipulate at first with all the ‘stuff’, I had everything she wanted. But then she got smart. And she realised it was all a show. Once she tried to get out of our contract I knew I didn’t have much time. So I gave Faye a call. She wasn’t too keen. But there will be someone else. I know what I’m doing.
I didn’t kill Ash. Next cash cow will be along soon.
